I tried teaching myself to pick locks for 20yrs with moderate success. After breaking or losing some picks, I decided to try this kit from Patriot Lock. I am actually.... extremely impressed. A wide selection of picks, 5 torsion wrenches, and 4 different locks to practice on. This set has been a big help in helping me learn pin picking versus raking. The picks come in an appropriate carrying case. I HIGHLY recommend this kit for the beginner.
*The kit aside, the instructional videos are not very robust. Search for others.
I should note... i bought 4 other kits as Christmas presents. You won't find a better beginner kit at this price.
I ordered a set similar to this on Amazon for the same price but the quality of that one was awful and i sent it back.. I ordered this set and the quality was phenomenal
My grandson loved the lock set. His birthday was yesterday on Halloween and he actually put the candy aside and started trying out his birthday present. Made us both happy. thanks
The Patriot Educational Lock Set With Instructions
I got this set after I destroyed my first ever--a Banggood 12-pick set.
I've seen this same Patriot set available under a few other brands. It has 6 hooks and 6 rakes, all standard, 5 different tension wrenches, and 3 transparent practice locks with silicone sleeves to hide the core and pins when you want to. The picks feel solid. The handles are textured hard plastic and are reasonably comfortable. My only quibble is that the tangs extend less than an inch into the handles, which I'm sure helps reduce production costs, but then it is a beginner set. Bottom line is this set is a great value for the price. I'm very happy with it and would recommend it highly for beginners like me.
